Visual Identity and Ad Campaign for WasteAway, a UNSW Design Studio Project.

Australia’s waste crisis is an extremely damaging problem that puts our beautiful Australian oceans at risk. Without even realising it we contribute to this problem everyday as many Australian’s are unaware of the impact our waste has on our environment.

The WasteAway Ad Campaign aims to educate, inspire and motivate Australians to participate in saving our planet and our oceans by taking control of their waste in their own backyard. Australia produces 74 million tonnes of waste every year with only 60% of it being recycled. Our recycling system relies on the community to make the right decisions when choosing how to recycle their rubbish.

WasteAway was created to bridge the gap between waste and our community - creating a simple and easy system that is convenient and helps people understand how to recycle and the impact our own recycling choices makes on our environment.

Drawing from the colours of our own Australian waste bin’s, the campaign is designed using three vibrant colours which symbolises the importance of sorting our rubbish correctly and recycling our waste. The use of colour creates positivity, making people feel comfortable to rethink their choices when disposing of their own waste.
